Kulturspielraum Film offers film workshops with young people on their own topics, questions and stories. At the centre is film as an artistic form of expression: documentary, fictional, poetic or biographical.
The young people develop their own filmic ideas, work in teams and get to know the basics of camera, sound, interview, dramaturgy and editing. The workshops can take place as part of a project, alongside the school year or as a compact workshop.
Kulturspielraum combines artistic leadership, filmmaking practice and educational support. The aim is a working space in which young people get to know film as a form of expression and can translate their own perspectives into images, scenes and montage.
Artistic direction and way of working
Monika Groth takes care of the artistic direction of the film projects. She sets the thematic frame and the first impulses.
During the working process she accompanies the young people from the first idea through the shoot and the edit to the finished filmic form.
She supports the development of material, structure, visual language and montage. Depending on the project, short films, documentary portraits, self-portraits, poetry films or fictional scenes come into being.
Experience
Monika Groth brings many years of experience from film, television and teaching. She has worked for TV broadcasters, made films of her own and has been teaching film and storytelling at SRH University Berlin for many years. In film education she has led film workshops with young people at schools, among other things.
